Canada's greenhouse gas emissions on the gross National Inventory Report basis: the national total and seven-sector breakdown, 1990 to 2024, excluding LULUCF

National greenhouse gas emissions as reported in the National Inventory Report, 2026 edition (1990-2024, submitted to the UNFCCC as a joint submission with Canada's second Biennial Transparency Report) -- the economic-sector table's National Inventory Total row and its seven constituent sectors (Oil and Gas, Electricity, Transportation, Heavy Industry, Buildings, Agriculture, Waste and others -- the last combining the file's Waste, Coal Production, and Light Manufacturing/Construction/Forest Resources rows to match the government's own projections-report sector grouping). Excludes Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry sector emissions and removals (the NIR's own footnote on its national totals); 100-year Global Warming Potential values are the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) convention. This is the newest publicly reported inventory year (2024) on any Canadian GHG accounting basis, and the vintage against which the target-accounting entry's NIR2025-based figures can be seen to move.

A Resolution record holds one institution's own published figures for a single, specific quantity — a projection, an estimate, or a measured record — across every vintage in which that institution restated it. Each time an issuer publishes a new budget, report, or release, an earlier figure does not disappear from the record; it is preserved exactly as it was first published, dated and cited, alongside the newer one.
